Sports memorabilia has made quite the comeback in recent years. Collectable, an investing platform and sports fan community that allows fans to own shares of sports’ most historic collectible moments, has been making waves as one of the best ways for any sports fan to get in on the action.

It has never been easier to own a share of real, iconic sports moments that have previously only been available for wealthy sports investors.

What is Collectable?

Collectable is the top fractional investing platform for sports fans. The idea is simple: Collectable sources valuable, rare sports memorabilia (such as sports cards) and execute an IPO for that collectible. Sports fans, investors, and collectible enthusiasts can then buy a share (i.e. an interest stake) of the piece at an affordable price.

The Collectable marketplace is already in full swing with sports fans just like you investing daily to own a share of some of the most iconic sports memorabilia in the world.

Collectable manages over $30 million of total sports memorabilia assets and regularly makes new, valuable items available for the public to own a share of. Over $6.5 million has already been invested on the platform.

Collectable’s platform is accessible in the United States online or via a mobile app, available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Alternative assets are the hobby you didn’t know you needed

It’s not all about the stock market any more. Alternative investments are investments in any asset other than stock, bonds, or cash. That includes art, wine, sports collectibles and more.

And the value of sport collectibles is skyrocketing. According to the PWCC marketplace indices, the PWCC 100 Index, which represents the value of top sports cards, outstripped the S&P 500  in gains from 2008-2020, rising 392% compared to 160%.

Collectable makes it easy to get your hands on a timeless piece of sports memorabilia without breaking the bank — all while treating it as a potential investment opportunity as well. And Collectable takes care of valuable sports memorabilia overhead headaches like insurance, storage, authentication, etc., so you can just focus on being a fan and collector.

Collectable FAQs

Are the items offered by Collectable authentic?

Yes. Per Collectable: “All offerings on Collectable are and will be authenticated by reputable third-party grading and authentication companies.”

How do you make money on Collectable?

If you own a share of full funded asset on Collectable, shares can then be traded on a secondary marketplace powered by Templum Markets, LLC, which is a member of FINRA and SIPC and an SEC-registered broker dealer and Alternative Trading System (“ATS”), according to Collectable. Collectable may also receive offers to buy the physical asset in full. If that happens, all shareholders will vote on the offer, and if the majority of shareholders vote to sell, then the item will be sold and all shareholders will be paid out.

What are ‘fractional shares’ of sports memorabilia?

The price of top-tier sports collectibles can be so high that the vast majority of fans simply don’t have a chance to collect, like the Wayne Gretzky rookie card that recently sold for $1.29 million, or the Mickey Mantle rookie that sold for $5.2 million. By selling fractional shares at reasonable prices, anyone can own a part of the history. Collectable says their mission “is to ensure ALL fans, of all income brackets, can experience the excitement and pride of ownership in history’s most rare and important collectibles.”
