The tight end position isn’t exactly loaded in this year’s free agency, especially after watching Dalton Schultz return to Houston and the Dolphins agreeing to a deal with Jonnu Smith. Admittedly, there aren’t really any true difference-making tight ends in this class but some potential landing spots could raise some eyebrows.

Ideal Landing Spots in 2024 Free Agency: Tight Ends

Gerald Everett

Age: 29
Ideal landing spot: Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals are going to be a popular landing spot for most tight ends, especially in the NFL Draft. But it makes sense, and I am still a huge fan of Gerald Everett’s game. I thought he was underutilized during his time with the Chargers, especially last season when he ran a route on just 53% of dropbacks, often splitting time with Donald Parham. But Everertt is still dangerous with the ball in his hands, averaging 5.4 yards after the catch per reception, while his 16 avoided tackles were among the most from the tight end position. It sounds like Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins will once again lead this Bengals passing game but Everett would be a massive upgrade at the tight end position and help replace slot receiver Tyler Boyd

Noah Fant

Age: 26
Ideal landing spot: Carolina Panthers

Noah Fant is not an elite fantasy tight end or anything, but I am very intrigued by him this offseason. In Shane Waldron’s multi-TE offense in Seattle, Fant rarely had his number called, especially with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett mostly dominating the targets. Seattle operated out of 13 personnel (three tight ends) nine percent of the time last year, the second-highest rate in football. As a result, Fant ranked just 26th among tight ends in routes run, while he also ran a route on just 52% of Seattle’s pass attempts. Carolina clearly needs all of the playmakers on offense, especially after ranking dead last in yards after the catch per completion in 2023 (4.1). Still just 26-years old and also averaging 5.4 yards after the catch per reception last year, Fant could help this team out quite a bit, and would boost his fantasy value in the process.

Mike Gesicki

Age: 28
Ideal landing spot: Los Angeles Rams

Mike Gesicki struggled to carve out a consistent role with the Patriots, which is strange considering this is a team that has historically utilized two-TE sets. We know Gesicki is more of a slot wideout than a traditional tight end, which makes his next team pretty interesting. With Tyler Higbee recovering from a torn ACL, the Rams could add Gesicki and use him in more creative ways than the Patriots did.

Logan Thomas

Age: 32
Ideal landing spot: Tennessee Titans/Seattle Seahawks

It’ll be an interesting market for Logan Thomas, who is the oldest free agent tight end outside of Jimmy Graham and Marcedes Lewis. The Titans could be looking to get back to utilizing multiple tight ends this season, while the Seahawks have Noah Fant, Will Dissly and Colby Parkinson all on the market.
