2023 Fantasy Baseball Preview: Identifying Late-Round Profitable Pitchers

More often than not when we get into the deeper parts of fantasy baseball drafts, it’s mostly hitters that end up providing us with a profit. It’s usually easier targeting a hitter in later rounds rather than a starting pitcher. Last season proved that theory wrong as we saw a plethora of starting pitchers going outside the top-250 in ADP while returning historical profits.
As mentioned by Vlad Sedler in his hitting article, 23% of the top-30 starting pitchers came after pick 250. The seven pitchers listed in the chart below all returned a substantial profit after being slept on in drafts or weren’t drafted at all being added through FAAB.
