Landing profitable late-round hitters was a difficult task in 2022. 

It was the Year of the Late-Round Pitcher as there were a plethora of arms with NFBC average draft positions beyond 250 who provided tremendous profit. Tony Gonsolin, Nestor Cortes, Kyle Wright, Spencer Strider, Tyler Anderson, Cristian Javier and Miles Mikolas were all either drafted after pick 250 overall or acquired via FAAB – an astounding 23.3% of the top-30 starting pitchers overall. It was a wild anomaly in conjunction with the decrease in overall hitting related to new humidors and unpredictable, punchless baseballs – a fantasy phenomenon that won’t occur again anytime soon.
