Week 17 NHL Waiver Wire

Welcome to the Week 17 fantasy hockey waiver wire article (Jan. 30 - Feb. 1). That’s right, with the NHL All Star break beginning Thursday, Week 17 of the fantasy hockey season is only three days long in high stakes leagues like NFHC. In Yahoo and ESPN fantasy hockey leagues, Week 17 is a two week period, so don’t use all your moves on Monday.

Below you’ll see a list of the top fantasy hockey waiver wire pickups for the week. I’ll highlight those who should be owned as well as a few streaming options for the week. I also provided a few buy-low and sell-high candidates for your fantasy hockey leagues.

For the high stakes players, there are only 11 teams scheduled to play before the NHL All Star break, and only one team has more than one game. I have some streaming options from those teams and some suggestions for the week following the NHL All Star break (Feb. 1 - Feb. 12). It’s an early look, as I’ll have another article on Sunday. We will dive deeper into Week 18 then, but I do have four game streamers for that week below.

Seth Jarvis, W Jarvis only has seven goals on the season and just one since December 18. However, he’s still playing on the top line with Sebastian Aho and Teravainen, so he’s worth consideration. He’s had at least two shots on goal in eight of his last 11 games, so at least he’s been getting some chances.

Jordan Staal, C Has 12 goals on the season and has been a great source for faceoff wins, hits and blocks.

Brady Skjei, D A deep-league stream for those looking for extra hits and blocks.
