And down the stretch we come!

Hard to believe we are already on the precipice of Week 14, with several teams battling to make the playoffs and garner the most advantageous seeding.

After a disappointing Week 13 for our beloved “Gus Bus,” let's try to recoup some losses with two fantastic investment targets at Mojo.

Cam Akers, RB, Los Angeles Rams

Over the past few weeks, no team has allowed more fantasy points per game to opposing running backs than the Raiders. Las Vegas has allowed 481 rushing yards, 269 receiving yards and a staggering 10 total touchdowns to the position.

Despite an inconsistent season, Los Angeles running back Cam Akers seems ready to make a strong late-season impact. With Darrell Henderson a surprising cut by the Rams in late November, Akers has seen the majority of backfield touches over the past three weeks. He is coming off his best game of the season, posting 60 yards and two touchdowns in a 27-23 loss to Seattle.

With upcoming games against friendly run defenses in the Raiders, Packers and Broncos, Akers has a chance for solid production, which would translate to a lucrative investment on his current Mojo price. His value has plummeted since late May, when Akers’ shares were trading at $12.77.

Akers’ price has finally started to rise after hitting rock bottom at $7.39 earlier this season. Take a chance on the talented 23-year-old running back who is finally cleared of any major touch competition.

Donovan Peoples-Jones, WR, Cleveland Browns

The return of Deshaun Watson should provide a boost to the athletic 23-year-old wideout who has enjoyed a productive third NFL season. Peoples-Jones has already totaled career-highs in targets (68), receptions (45) and receiving yards (637). He ranks among the top 20 wideouts in both air yards and yards per target while playing with a conservative quarterback in veteran Jacoby Brissett

Watson brings a new dynamic to the Cleveland attack and will provide more deep-ball opportunities. At 6-foot-2, 212 pounds, Peoples-Jones brings elite burst and 4.48 speed to a Browns offense that needs receiving weapons.

The last time Watson played a full season (2020), he led the NFL in passing yards (4,823) and yards per attempt (8.9). That was on a Texans team that featured one of the NFL’s worst offensive lines. While Watson has not played for two seasons, he will operate in an offense with more weapons and a much better protection rate.

Cleveland does not face a challenging pass defense for the remainder of the season, including favorable matchups against Cincinnati, Washington and Pittsburgh.

Peoples-Jones carries a reasonable price at just $7.45 per share, leaving plenty of room for growth among other comparable WR2s. His price is currently 77th among all wide receivers,  residing between Sterling Shepard (out for the season) and Kadarius Toney (injured).

Peoples-Jones has three things we look for in a Mojo investment: young and explosive, affordable value and great remaining strength of schedule. The return of Watson gives us a great chance to grab value with an explosive wideout who is still undervalued by the market.
