Every week from now till the end of the season, I will break down a few moves to make to help you build the ultimate dynasty and rule your leagues.

As we head into Week 10 of the fantasy season, it is starting to become clear whether your roster is destined for a deep run or in need of a major overhaul. With the fantasy playoffs right around the corner, some of us may also have a league that the trade deadline is also sneaking up. If so, time may be running out to solidify your dynasty roster until January. This makes the next few weeks critical.

Below I have broken down a few moves to improve either a contending or rebuilding roster.

Rebuilding Moves

Even amid a rebuild, there are in-season moves that can help you set yourself up for success. These moves don't have to be massive either, the key to rebuilding is obtaining assets to set you up for long-term success. Little has changed in the landscape this week when it comes to dynasty, so remember it's never a bad idea to acquire young assets and draft picks.

Buy Low on Michael Pittman

All offseason, Michael Pittman was a popular name when it came to potential breakout candidate. In Week 1 we saw signs that this could be in store, as he posted a 27.1-point week in PPR. But then it took him four weeks to top 16 points again, when he posted 26.4 against Jacksonville. In this game, he caught 13-of-16 targets while going for a season-high 134 yards. Since this blowup game, we have seen Pittman fade into the forgotten zone as he has yet to top 13 points. Within this is two games under 10 PPR points, and a season-low 5.2-point performance this past week. Currently, Pittman is the WR17 with 107.8 points so far which could be a disappointment to some managers who were expecting a top-12 finish.

Additionally, two weeks after benching Matt Ryan for Sam Ehlinger, this Colts team is heading in the wrong direction. Since then, the Colts have only produced 20 total points and one offensive touchdown, leading to the firing of Frank Reich and the surprising hire of interim Jeff Saturday. As a result, some managers may be fading Pittman, but even if this year is a lost season (which seems to be the case), it is likely the Colts will be in a position to upgrade the QB position in the draft. With this, we could see Pittman emerge as a top-flight option again in 2023.

Jahan Dotson is a Good Trade Target

Jahan Dotson Week 10 Dynasty Moves to Make

Jahan Dotson was a player who burst onto the scene in Week 1, as he scored on 2 of his 3 receptions and posted 18 points in PPR scoring. He went on to score in three of the four games he appeared in, posting double-digit PPR points in each en route to 52.2 points on the season. On the flip side, he has missed the last four games due to an injury. Additionally, Dotson’s early success has come via a high touchdown ratio, so there is some worry he does not see enough targets to be viable if he doesn't find the end zone. Both of these may be holding his value down, making him a good player to target in a rebuild. You can let him mature as you will likely need him to become consistent until next year at the earliest.

Being able to unload an aging asset to a contending team for Dotson could pay off. Traditionally if you start your rebuild by adding quality wide receiver prospects, you tend to find better long-term success. And remember, their production window tends to be one of the longest in fantasy football.

Contending Rosters

As a contender, we know by now that the name of the game is – What can you do for me now? This is the mindset you should have as we head into Week 10, especially, if your roster can handle a deep run. The waiver wire can be your best friend, but with the state of most dynasty leagues, the waiver wire is likely barren. With this in mind, remember that a rebuilding roster could be a great way to acquire winnow assets.

Go Get Cordarrelle Patterson

One of the most valuable pieces to a contending roster can be running back depth, and Cordarrelle Patterson can provide this. This past week we saw Patterson return from a four-week stint on IR and post a top-12 finish in PPR scoring. He scored another touchdown this week, something he has done in all but one game this season and carried the ball 13 times (led team) for 44 yards. This usage shows us just what Arthur Smith and the Falcons staff think of the rest of their backs who had a four-week audition to steal the lead role. Additionally, Patterson is averaging 14.7 PPR points a week so far, which would put him at RB16 in points per game.

As part of a team that is predicated on running the ball, Patterson has huge value going forward. The Falcons only trial the Bears in rushing attempts this season, and this is not likely to change going forward. As a result, Patterson will continue to see a ton of touches leading to quality fantasy production. Especially when we take a look at the upcoming schedule and see they only face one team inside the top 10 in points allowed to running backs during the rest of the season – the Saints, who rank seventh, 20 per game. Additionally, it is likely he can be acquired at a reasonable cost due to his lack of a long-term outlook.
